The mainstay of the Egyptian belief system was the relationship between Maat meaning order and Isfet meaning chaos. Maat was considered to be the ideal but it was understood that for Maat to exist then an opposing state of Isfet must also to enable an equalibrium.

Duality was a common theme throught Ancient Egypt and the figure of Maat provides an ideal starting point for exploring this.
